Weak and ineffective leadership is behind nearly all of the cybersecurity problems companies face today.

Despite the claims, it’s not other countries, criminals, costly technologies, or undisciplined system users. Nor is it due to the decade long cybersecurity workforce shortage.

Are they contributors to the problems? Certainly, they are. But most cybersecurity issues we are dealing with today can be traced back to a failure of leadership.

This shouldn’t be surprising.

Effective leadership is foundational to every organized effort we engage in; be it sports teams, civic organizations, businesses, or the military.

And the more complex, challenging, and important the undertaking; the more critical leadership is to its success. Which is why effective leadership is so critical in cybersecurity organizations.
